Important Walking Group Information
Weather & Safety Guidelines
The safety of our walkers is always the top priority. Walks may be canceled or modified due to weather conditions.

If the air temperature exceeds 90°F or the heat index exceeds 95°F, we will not meet for our scheduled walk.

Please dress appropriately for the weather, including:

Comfortable walking shoes

Sunscreen

A hat or visor

Sunglasses

Lightweight, breathable clothing

Bring water or another hydration beverage to stay properly hydrated before, during, and after the walk.
Arrival & Communication
Our scheduled meeting time is 5:00 PM. We typically begin walking within 5–10 minutes of the start time.
If you plan to attend, please send me a text message beforehand. This helps us know who to expect and ensures we don't leave before everyone arrives.
Summer Schedule Changes
As temperatures become consistently warmer, our walking group will transition from evening walks to Thursday mornings at 8:00 AM. Updates will be posted here as the season progresses.

🌟 Active Aging Week 2025 – Event Recap
October 6–12, 2025
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Active Aging Week!💙This nationwide campaign highlighted wellness, connection, and the joy of movement at every age — and I was proud to be an official host site. Our week featured activities celebrating the 7 Dimensions of Wellness — from movement and mindfulness to connection and purpose — and wrapped up with our Move Your Way Walk at Occoquan Regional Park. 🚶♀️🌿
Despite a rainy forecast, our walkers brought the sunshine and the perfect fall energy! ☀️💪🏾
